Stakeholders in the health sector gathered at the NPI Office in Dutse Local Government Area for a review meeting and preparatory session for TCI Social Mobilizers on Birth Spacing. The meeting focused on the closeout of the first phase of The Challenge Initiative (TCI) programme, implemented in partnership with the Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (JSPHCDA).

The programme, which has been running for two years, aims to accelerate the scale of family planning and reproductive health services in Jigawa State. It is set to close out in June 2025. Participants at the meeting included representatives from seven Local Government Areas: Dutse, Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Buji, Kiyawa, Jahun, and Ringim.

Key officials from the state team, including the Deputy Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, Monitoring, and Evaluation, and Health Promotion Officers, attended the meeting. They assessed the programme's impact, shared insights on challenges and successes, and discussed strategies for sustaining the gains beyond the programme's closeout.

The meeting underscored the commitment to improving maternal and child health outcomes in Jigawa State through strengthened birth spacing initiatives and enhanced healthcare systems. By empowering local communities and promoting evidence-based strategies, the TCI programme aims to increase access to and demand for family planning services.

The stakeholders expressed optimism about the programme's potential to make lasting impacts on the health and well-being of the people of Jigawa State.
